Theodore “Ted” Edwin Darby, 93, of Yakima, peacefully passed away on November 23, 2018, following a decline in his health. He was born in Yakima on February 3, 1925 to Edwin and Eugenia Darby.  He graduated from Wapato High School in 1943, and proudly served in the United States Navy until his honorable discharge. He then married Mary Bort on September 7, 1946, and they enjoyed over 72 years of marriage. Ted drove a delivery truck for Standard Oil for over 40 years, retiring in 1990.
Ted had a contagious smile, quick wit, and infectious laughter. He was always friendly and outgoing. He loved to BBQ and spent many hours under the family Elm Tree perfecting his craft.  Ted and Mary hosted many Saturday Night Hamburger Feeds for the family to enjoy. He was a very dedicated sports fan for all his children and grandchildren, traveling all over the state for their activities. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling. Ted and Mary traveled throughout the United States and into Canada, as well as 3 trips to Italy to visit family.  Ted loved his family and will be missed. 93 years still wasn’t enough time spent with our husband, dad, and hero.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Darby of Yakima, and their children, Barbara (Steve) Junker, Bob (Carol) Darby, Gary (Kathy) Darby, Teresa (Carlos) Montano, and Belkis Arumbul.  He is also survived by his 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 10:00AM at Holy Family Catholic Church followed by Entombment with Military Honors, at Calvary Cemetery.
