Dayle Lane Champ went to be with his Heavenly Father on November 20, 2018 surrounded by his family, friends and music.  Dayle was born on December 29, 1944 in Kansas City, Kansas to Margaret Glass (Champ) and adopted by Harold Champ. He graduated in 1962 from William Chrisman High School and went on to obtain an associate’s degree from the University of Central Missouri, Warrensburg, MO.  Dayle enlisted in the Marines and served his country in Vietnam for 2 tours in the late 1960’s. After returning from the war he received his degree in Mortuary Science.

Dayle married the love of his life, Pauletta Ormsbee Champ, on November 17, 1972.  They made their home and raised their family in Independence and Blue Springs, MO.  Dayle worked 30 years for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and retired in 1999.  He served as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher and Royal Ambassador Leader in their church, went on mission trips and was a member of Disaster Relief that helped victims of natural disasters.  Dayle enjoyed music; played piano and accordion, and sang bass in several groups and choirs, even touring and performing as a guest singer in his free time.
Dayle and Pauletta moved to Yakima, WA in 2000 and he worked for Keith and Keith Funeral Homes and CWI Security.   Always the jokester, he loved to make people laugh with his unique sense of humor, corny jokes and endless stories.  He loved his family and was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.
Dayle is survived by his wife of 46 years Pauletta Champ, daughter Tracy Anderson (David), sons Jeff Champ (Lynda) and Damian Champ, sister Meg Atwell and numerous grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday November 29, 2018 at Terrace Heights Baptist Church (619 South 41st Ave. 98901) at 1:00PM.  In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Dayle’s name to Terrace Heights Baptist Church Roof Fund, and sent in care of Brookside Funeral Home, (PO Box 1267, Moxee, WA 98936), who is caring for the family.
