 MARJORIE HOWARD OZANICH passed away peacefully September 27, 2018; she was 97.  She was born on October 15, 1920 to Walter and Mildred Howard in Wendell, Idaho. 

When Marjorie was 16 the family moved to the Ellensburg area and she attended Thorp High School.  Following graduation, she married Michael Ozanich. Together they raised four children and were married for sixty-one years before Mike’s passing. They had a wonderful life and cherished their family. 

Marjorie was very active in the community working with 4-H and Home Economic Clubs. At the age of 45 she went back to college and earned her BA in teaching.  She taught third and fourth grades for 15 years at Thorp Elementary School. 

Marjorie is survived by sons Larry Ozanich (Judy) Selah, Don Ozanich (Terri) Ellensburg, daughters Helen Tweedy Yakima, and Carrie Newberry (Curt) Sunnyside. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Michael Ozanich, sisters IdaMae Thomas, Edith Bruner, Dorothy Kontos, brother Ted Howard and son-in-law Jim Tweedy.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Summitview Healthcare Center for the excellent care that Marj received while living there.

Marj was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister.  She always had a sweet smile that warmed your heart. She will be missed.

Visitation will be held October 12, from 5-8 p.m. at Brookside Funeral Home, 101 E 2nd Ave., Ellensburg and Saturday October 13, from 10:00 to 12:30 at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, 401 S. Willow, Ellensburg, with funeral services following at 1:00 p.m. Graveside services will immediately follow at Thorp Cemetery.

The family would like to extend an invitation to join them following the graveside for a reception honoring Marjorie at St. Andrew’s.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Living Care (Summitview Healthcare Center) at 3801 Summitview Ave. Yakima, WA 98902, or to a charity of your choice.
