Ted Tucker

ObituaryShare A Memory

Our beloved brother and uncle entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, August 11, 2018 at Cottage in the Meadow.  He was born in Berryville, Arkansas August 7, 1935 to Lewis and Mae Tucker.  He arrived here in 1944 on a train from Arkansas.  Ted attended Willow Lawn, Tietonview, and Highland High School.  He was drafted into the Army 3rd Infantry in 1958 and served until 1964.  He served at Fort Myer, Arlington, Virginia with the Color Guard Unit.

Ted worked in farming in our Valley until he chose to use skills used in the Army to become a bus driver for West Valley until retirement, then drove for Epic until he retired again. Lacking kids of his own, Ted had a deep love for children - on his buses as well as within the family.  Ted also was involved in Red Cross - teaching classes and volunteering.

His interests later in life led to membership in the Yakima Genealogy Society.  His family enjoyed his sense of humor as well as being a "rock" to us.

Ted is preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Mae, brothers, Walter, Doyle, and James, and sister, Georgia.

Ted is survived by brothers, Bob (Judi) of Tieton, John (Carol) of Gleed, Tom (Jeannie) of Arkansas, Donnie (Kelly) of West Valley, and Ron of West Valley, as well as a sister, Sue Lee of Moxee.

The Family would like to thank the nursing staff in ICU at Virginia Mason Memorial for their great care as well as Cottage in the Meadow for making his last days so peaceful.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 21, 2018 at Brookside Funeral Home (500 Prospect, Moxee, WA 98936) at 3:00 pm, there will be a reception to follow. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
