Virgil Dale Scully, age 75, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday night, September 4th, 2018. He was born on June 24th, 1943 at St. Vincente Hospital in Crookston, MN to Robert Harold and Mary Ellen (Martell) Scully. 
 
He was baptized in St. Ann’s Church by Father Dufault who gave him the name of Virgil Dale John the Baptist Scully. His God-parents were his maternal grandparents, Henry and Celina (Amiot) Martell. 
 
In November 1944, his family and he moved to Naches, WA and then on to Yakima, WA in June of 1948. Virgil started school at St. Joseph’s in Yakima where he also made his first Communion. He then continued his schooling at St. Paul’s. 
 
Virgil met his wife, Lynda (Sides) Scully, in Yakima in 1961.  They were married October 9th, 1965 in Yakima and that is where they stayed and raised their three children: Glenda, Dale, and Darren. 
 
He was drafted into the United States Army to serve in the Vietnam War. He served in the Army (active and reserve) from 1965-1971.
 
Virgil enjoyed a long career of 35+ years with Cascade Natural Gas Corporation in Yakima starting as a meter reader and working his way up to management. 
 
In his younger years he enjoyed going dancing every Saturday night with his wife at the American Legion, working on cars, playing ping pong, and embarrassing his kids with his handyman inventions and cut off shorts. 
 
He loved trips to the Washington beaches and Jackpot, NV, family gatherings, potato salad, traveling in his motor home to see the U.S., his dog, Radar, loving on and teasing his grandkids, checking in on and visiting with his Mom, and spending time with his beloved wife, Lynda. 
 
Virgil is preceded in death by his wife Lynda Scully, father Robert Scully, brother Gary Scully, and his brother-in-law Sherwood Hall.
 
He is survived by his mother Mary Ellen Scully of Yakima,WA, sister Donna (Jim) Kendrick of Pahrump, NV, sister Janice Hall of Moscow, ID, brother Darryl (Sharon) Scully of Ellensburg, WA, sister Joanne Scully of Yakima, WA, brother Mike Scully of Yakima, WA, brother Kevin (Debbie) Scully of Yakima, WA, brother Lauren Scully of Yakima, WA, brother Bruce (Jill) Scully of Yakima, WA, sister Renee McGuire of Yakima, WA, and family friend, Pat Lawler of Yakima, WA; three children Glenda (Kevin) Hitchcock of Yakima, WA, Thomas Dale (Karen) Scully of Fresno, CA, and Darren (Karlee) Scully of Satellite Beach, FL. Five grandchildren Kyle and Mekenzie Hitchcock and Jacob, Ellen, and Andrew Scully. Virgil is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews, and extended family. 
 
A Graveside Service is scheduled for Friday, September 21st, at 11am at West Hills Memorial Park.
