Barbara Joan Aultman Hodge Wright, born January 18, 1928, at Seaside Hospital in Long Beach, California, walked in to the light on June 24, 2018. My mother, Thelma Eileen Morris, was born in Paragould, Arkansas on June 25, 1906. My father was Carl Paul Aultman, born in Nebraska in 1903. I preferred to use the name ‘Bobbie’. I went to schools in Long Beach, California, but graduated from Lincoln High School in 1945 where my mother and stepfather, George Babcock, moved to in 1940. I attended Whitworth College in Spokane, WA. I married Marshall Bryant Hodge in Spokane in 1948. We both graduated from Whitworth (now University) in 1949, he, magna cum laude and I, with cum laude degree. From there we moved to San Anselmo, California, where he received a degree in Theology from San Francisco Presbyterian Theological Seminary. While in seminary, we had a daughter, Kathleen Joan Hodge, born in 1950 in Kentfield, CA. Our son, Douglas Bryant Hodge, was born in Petaluma, CA in 1953 while Marshall was serving as student minister at Two Rock Valley Presbyterian Church near Petaluma, CA. When he graduated from San Anselmo, he received a scholarship for advanced study and we moved to Los Angeles, where I began teaching elementary school and Marshall finished his Ph.D. degree in Psychology at the University of Southern California in 1960. I taught elementary school in Los Angeles, then in West Covina, and later in Pamona, CA. We moved to Claremont, CA in 1960 where our children graduated from High School.

Marshall and I divorced in 1970 and I married Lawrence Melvin Wright. We had 26 wonderful years until his death in 1999, and I moved to Yakima, Washington in 2001 to be with my daughter, Kathy. I have enjoyed my years in Yakima where I now have a granddaughter, Corey Christian Hodge, and her husband, Andrew Charles Schut, together with my great grandchildren, Siena Schut and Mason Schut. My grandson, Alex Brandon Hodge, and his wife, Elizabeth (Libby) Louise Hodge, and my four great grandchildren, Henry, Charles, William, and Caroline, also live in Yakima. My son Douglas Bryant Hodge, and his wife, Jennifer, live in Westfield, Indiana. My granddaughter, Morgan Ellen Perrill and her husband, Brett Perrill, live in Danville, Indiana, with my two grandsons, Bryant and Asher. I have a wonderful family, including step-children, Clea Jean Wright and John Franklin Wright, in Los Angeles and grandson, Benjamin Clark, and his wife, Jennifer Clark, in Florida, with their children, Gabe and Addy.
I have had a great life, as an elementary school teacher, a real estate agent in Newport Beach, California, as a hypnotherapist for 40 years working with spiritual development, and as a writer. I wrote and published two books, CHRISTMAS CONSIGNMENT, a fiction story, and YOU ARE MORE THAN YOU THINK YOU ARE, a biography about my work as a hypnotherapist, including spiritual teachings we received from ‘the other side’. Love everything. That’s all that matters.
We survivors miss our dear mom, Gramma, Gigi, friend, and great source of love for us all, and wish her happiness on her new journey.
There will be a Celebration of her Life on July 21, 2018, at the Bodhi Center, in the sanctuary of the Universalist Church, (224 N. 2nd St., Yakima, 98901), at 10:00am, with a reception to follow.
