       John J. Hanson died at age 90 on May 27, 2018 in Ellensburg, Born March 3, 1928, he was the son of Gertrude and Alfred Hanson and like his father, he lived and farmed his whole life on the Swauk Prairie ranch begun by his grandfather in 1887. 

He went to Ballard and Virden schools, graduated from Cle Elum High School, was drafted into the Army 1951-1953, then graduated from Central in 1960 with a BA in Economics.
He served as a Conservation District Supervisor, Grange Master, PUD Commissioner and Swauk Cemetery Director. John was a careful and able farmer, who for decades grew dryland wheat and hay while maintaining and improving the health and productivity of his farm.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lila and their sons and wives; Jim and Susan Hanson, Bill and Sally Hanson, and Mike and Karen Hanson. Grandchildren are Jake Hanson, Jody (Todd) Thayer, Laurie Hanson and Josh Hanson. Also survived by his sister Eleanor Kryscio of Milwaukee, he was preceded by his parents, foster brother Willie Rozinski and an infant daughter, 
        Burial at Swauk Cemetery. As he wished, there will be no services.
