It is with great sadness that the family of Daniel Raymond Scully announces his passing on May 2, 2018, at the age of 75 after a long battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. Dan made his journey to heaven from his home, while surrounded by his loving family.  He was looking forward to his heavenly reward after a preview 57 years prior that revealed to him the Love, Joy, and Peace of Heaven.  Dan was born on September 9, 1942 in Yakima, Washington to Margaret (Weichelt) and Raymond Scully.

Dan graduated from Carrol High School in 1960 in Yakima and studied Civil Engineering at Columbia Basin College in the Tri-Cities.  He worked for the Washington State Department of Transportation as a civil engineer for 32 years and retired in 1998.
He loved spending time with family and friends, traveling to the Washington coast enjoying and showing others how to, dig clams, fish, get oysters, and catch crab.  He loved to talk to people and he could talk to anyone about anything.  He loved to eat, critique food and figure out and experiment with recipes.  He was also known for preparing food for large amounts of people at the drop of a hat.
Dan is remembered by many for his great sense of humor, jokes and his big heart.  He was always helping mentor young people that may have needed a little extra guidance and enjoyed the time spent with Tommy, Jason, and Charlie.  Every morning, as Alayna, Haylie, Peyton and Emma went off to school he would tell them to enjoy their day and be sure to learn a lot!  His biggest emphasis to his children and grandchildren and others was to get a good education so they could be successful in life.
Dan will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 38 years, Patricia, and Dan’s daughter Christina (Bill) Sauriol and his grand-daughters, Bethany, Alyssa (Steve) Furst, and Kaelen; his daughter Sandra Riley (Mike Eddy) and son (his grandson) Sean; Dan & Pat’s daughter Lori Hadley and her children, (his grandchildren) Alayna, Haylie, Peyton and Emma; Dan’s step-son Joe McClain and his children (Dan’s step-grandchildren), Heather and James; and Dan’s step-daughter, Charlotte McClain-Barajas and her children (Dan’s step-grandchildren), Darryl, Martin’, Luisa, Serenity and Juanita; and Dan’s sister, Joy Froehlich.
He is also fondly remembered by his aunt, Ellen Scully; nephews, Joel (Tammy) Froehlich and their daughters Michelle and Kristin; Jesse (Chris) Froehlich and their daughters, Kim (Joey) Wallberg and their children Dalton, Mya, Kaleb and Teigan, and daughter Kari (Jamie) Thompson and their son Austin; Jerome (Teresa) Froehlich and their daughter Chelsea (Kirtis) Norvell; his brother in laws, Richard and David and sister in law Angie and their children, plus numerous cousins.
Dan is preceded in death by his mother and father; his first wife, Judy Scully; infant son, Daniel Shawn Scully; sister, Bonita Scully and brother-in-law, Jerry Froehlich
His family would like to extend their appreciation and thanks to Memorial Hospice in-home care providers for their comfort and care, Fr. Ibach, Howards Medical Supply, Brookside Funeral Home, and all the family and friends who have been so supportive during this difficult time.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 10:00am at St. Paul Cathedral in Yakima. Flowers can be sent to St. Paul Cathedral Saturday morning or, if you so choose, donations may be made to The American Cancer Society.
