 Dorothy Lucille Cheshier, passed away on March 13, 2018, at home in Ellensburg. She was born December 1, 1922, to Will and Nora (Bergin) Sanneman near Morganville, Kansas. She grew up in the Idana community and graduated from Clay Center Community High School in 1940. Following high school, she taught at Eagle Bend, Zeandale, and Ogden. She met Edwin Cheshier when he was stationed at Ft. Riley. They were married on June 9, 1946; and lived in Manhattan, Kansas. In 1953 they moved to Clay Center and she worked at the USDA Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS), known today as the Farm Service Agency. Ed and Dorothy moved in 1963 to Olathe, Kansas; and she continued working for ASCS in Olathe. They moved to Washington state in 1965 because Ed accepted a job with the U. S. Department of Interior, Bonneville Power Administration. Ed's career with the U. S. Dept. of Interior moved them from job site to job site in the northwest, which included the states of Oregon, Idaho, Montana, and Washington. Following Ed's retirement, they settled in Ellensburg, Washington. She was a member of the Ellensburg United Methodist Church.

Her survivors include: two nephews and their spouses, Gaylord and Janelle Sanneman, Newton, Kansas; George and Sarah Sanneman, Idana, Kansas; and a niece, Verlee Sanneman, Topeka, Kansas; and a special family Nivardo Mendoza Lopez and Juana Mendoza and their family, Omar, Kevin, and Angel, of Ellensburg. Preceding her in death are her parents, Will and Nora; husband Ed; and her brother and wife, Robert (Bob) and Edwinna Sanneman.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made in Dorothy’s honor to the Ellensburg United Methodist Church, in care of Brookside Funeral Home, 101 E 2nd Ave., Ellensburg, WA 98926. A Celebration of her Life and burial will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Clay Center, Kansas, on Friday, May 4th, at 2:00 pm.
