Our beloved wife and mother passed way unexpectedly Friday, March 9, 2018 with her family by her side.

Darlene was born April 8, 1943 to Willis and Julia Decoto. They lived in the Ahtanum area where she attended early primary school at the Armstrong School, then graduated from West Valley. After graduation she worked for numerous banks as a teller over a 30-year period.
In 1970 she married Russ Bohannon and with her children moved to the Tampico area where she continued to love her farm life. Her greatest enjoyment was having cattle. She raised baby calves from bottles and nurse cows, sometimes as many as 40 at a time. She loved the Decoto family annual cattle drives and being at cow camp with her family. During hay season you could find her helping Russ bale hay while the kids slept in the car.
Darlene was a member of the Tampico Saddle Club, taking rodeo entries for the Wiley City Rodeo. As the kids grew older and became involved in Jr. Rodeo the family would travel around the state going from one rodeo to another.
“Lady Luck” was always with Darlene at the casinos. She loved going to Legends and taking flyaway trips to Laughin with friends. For the past 30 years her favorite trip was to Las Vegas to attend the National Finals Rodeo with family and friends.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents Willis and Julia, brother, Bob, and nephew, Todd.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Russ Bohannon, brother, Ray (Helen) Decoto, brother-in-law, Richard Bohannon, children, Julie (Kohen) Kelley, Joe (Janine) Murray, grandchildren, Kelli (Bob), Kam (Shauni), Lindsey, Meleah (Brandon), great grandchildren, Derek, Kierra, and Jace.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2017 at Wiley Union Church (2711 Wiley Rd, Yakima, WA 98903) at 1:00 pm with a reception to follow, if you would like to bring something to share please do so. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to Tampico Saddle Club in care of Brookside Funeral Home (PO Box 1267, Moxee, WA 98936).
