Bill Schmidt, 73, passed away on February 17, 2018. Bill was born on September 11, 1944 in Brownsville, TX, but spent most of his growing up years in Lewiston, Idaho and Liberty Lake, Washington. He graduated from the University of Idaho and went on to become a Captain in the US Navy, serving for 28 years. After military retirement, he spent the remainder of his “retirement” years in Yakima, Washington.

Bill never knew a stranger. He made friends wherever he went. His infectious laughter was his signature trait. Whether a joke told by a grandchild or a funny comment by a fellow pickle ball player, his laughter and enthusiasm for life brought joy to all who knew him. Bill loved his family well and was committed and intentional about spending time with them. Whether traveling to Hawaii or Alaska, making many road trips to Lewiston and Boise, or driving down in the “blue truck” to see grandkids in California, he demonstrated his love for family by making the time to be together. We are all so thankful for the time he made to show his love and care for us.
His family who will greatly miss him include his, children Heidi (David), Jennifer (Geoff), Heather (Jason) and Derek and grandchildren Josiah, Isaac, Renee, Scarlet, James, Helena and Jeremy, as well as his sister, Swanie. Bill will be missed by many people.
A public viewing will be held on Friday, March 9, 2018 from 2:00PM - 7:00PM, followed by a Memorial Service, with Military Honors, on Saturday, March 10, 2018, at 11:00AM, both held at Brookside Funeral Home (500 W. Prospect, Moxee, WA 98936). Memorial Contributions are suggested to the YMCA, in care of Brookside Funeral Home, who is caring for the family.  Online condolences may be left at www.brooksidefhc.com
