Ardell “Tiny” Hanson, peacefully passed away on February 11, 2017 while holding the hand of his beloved wife of 50 years, Beverly Hanson. Tiny was born November 6, 1934 in Osseo, Wisconsin to Curtis and Lorena Hanson (d.), the third child of four. In 1967, Tiny married Beverly in Anaheim, Orange County and adopted two children, Daniel Hanson and Rhonda Hanson.

After graduating from Osseo High School Tiny joined the Army (1957-63) stationed in Karlsruhe, Germany as an Engineer and later re-enlisted as a Reservist. While stationed in Germany, Tiny travelled to Paris, Holland and all over Germany. His travels inspired many stories, as well as his love for his friends and family.
As a lifelong sports fan Tiny rooted for the Green Bay Packers, California Angels, Seattle Mariners and Seattle Seahawks. While living in Anaheim he worked as an usher for the California Angels, where he was able to watch his favorite past time. In addition, he was an assistant coach with his son, Daniel Hanson’s little league team.
Tiny followed his love of engineering and worked for Rockwell as an Aerospace Planner & Scheduler (Project Coordinator) on the Space Shuttle Columbia. In 1979, he transferred to Hanford and moved his family to Yakima Washington, where he lived until he retired. Tiny’s interest in math and science was often expressed as word-play in poems, card games and math puzzles, moreover, one of his favorite evening events was helping his daughter Rhonda with her math homework.
Known as a gentle giant, Tiny had a great sense of humor and sense of storytelling. Faith and family were his guiding principles and everyone who met him loved him instantly.
Tiny is survived by his wife, Beverly Hanson; his son, daughter-in-law and grandson, Dan, Heather and Jamison Hanson; and his daughter, Rhonda Hanson; and his sister and brother-in-law, Bernadine and Larry Hollister.

A Memorial Service will be held in Seattle, April 14th, 2018
