Dorothy Evelyn Brown Dyer went Home to Heaven on Friday, January 26th, 2018, “Absent from the body at Home with the Lord.” Dorothy was born in the back of a grocery store where her parents lived in Corvallis, Oregon on August 2, 1925. Mom accepted the Lord at the age of 13 at First Baptist Church in Corvallis where later she and Chet Dyer were married March 24, 1946. She graduated from Oregon State College that summer. Mom and Dad took to heart the verse, “be fruitful and multiply” and started their family right away with 6 children in nine years.

Mom was right alongside Dad in pastoral ministry at three churches; Little Rock, Arkansas, Ahtanum Pioneer Church in Yakima and in Prescott, Arizona. They were also state directors for Child Evangelism Fellowship in Hawaii and Washington, and Mom was a CEF Local Director for Yakima Valley. They also worked in the Family Shelter at Yakima Union Gospel Mission. At age 60 Mom went back to school to obtain her RN from Yakima Valley College, then worked at Central Convalescent Nursing Home for five years. She loved studying and memorizing God’s Word and praying for others. She was a member of West Side Church.

She is survived by her “amazing” children; Kathy (Mike) Fisher, of Dallas, TX, Karen Dyer, of North Africa, Thomas (Jan) Dyer, of Yakima, Kristine (Danny) Weiss, of Selah, Karla (Wes) Schut, of Yakima, Ted (Laura) Dyer of Abilene, TX and sister-in-law Virginia Cassens, of Newberg, OR; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Chet Dyer, parents Warder and Mabel Brown, sisters Marion Dornbush and Margaret Keck and brother Dale Brown.

Mom enjoyed living for ten years at Living Care Retirement Community where she made many friends. When she went on Memorial Hospice, she moved in with Karla and Wes. The VM Memorial Hospice team were a wonderful support and blessing.

At Mom’s request, there will be a Graveside Service for family and friends at 11:00AM on Friday, February 2, 2018 at West Hills Memorial Park. If desired, memorial gifts may be made to West Side Church Missions Fund in care of Brookside Funeral Home (PO Box 1267, Moxee, WA 98936, who is caring for the family
