Mary Theresa Sandall, 89, died on January 13, 2018 at her home surrounded by family after a very long battle with cancer. Mary was born on June 16, 1928 in Yakima, Washington, the daughter of Arthur and Marguerite (Gleason) Hanses. Her parents where some of the first settlers in the Tampico area. They farmed with hops being the main crop. Mary attended St. Paul Grade School and St. Joseph Academy where she boarded during school. She graduated in 1946 as the valedictorian of her class. She met Henry Sandall and dated for a time, they were married in 1948 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. They lived in Tampico for the first years of marriage, moving to Moxee in 1952, living there ever since. 
Mary was a person that always put her family first, they were the most important thing in her life. She loved to have family in her home and be able to cook for them and play games. Mary loved to play cards, learning from a very young age, she was a big fan of bingo as well. She would keep a cooler in her car just in case she needed to go to the store and get groceries, so they wouldn’t spoil while she played bingo. She enjoyed camping and fishing with her family, going to Rife Lake, Rimrock, or anything up north. In her spare time, she raised nine children, all of which live in the Yakima area to be close. 
Mary is survived by her children, Bill (Kathi) Sandall, Dave Sandall, Linda (Paul) Lenseigne, Marilyn (Tony) Mitzel, Jim Sandall, Jeanne (Dan) McIntyre, and Tom (Tammra) Sandall. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Henry, two children, Bobby and Michele, sister in law, Karen Sandall, and five brothers, Jack, Rich, Bob, Joe, and Bill. Mary was particularly proud of her brother, Father John Hanses, S.J., and her Uncle, Bishop Frances D. Gleason, S.J., who was the first Catholic bishop in Alaska. 
Mary’s family would like to thank all the staff of Memorial Hospice and North Star Lodge for all the care and support that they gave during this time. 
A Rosary will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church (201 N Iler St, Moxee, WA 98936) at 6:00 pm. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church at 11:00 am. There will be a reception to follow at the Holy Rosary Church hall. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to Memorial Hospice and North Star Lodge in care of Brookside Funeral Home (PO Box 1267, Moxee, WA 98936) in memory of Mary.
