Harold went home on January 8, 2018. He was born in Whitefish, Montana on December 12, 1924, to Albert and Ellen Eunice Reid. He grew up with 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
Dad loved the outdoors, engaging in lots of outdoor sports including: fishing, hunting, camping and working his big garden. He tended to that garden for 53 years and loved sharing his vegetables with everyone. It gave him great joy. Another of Harold’s hobbies was playing his banjo with the Old Time fiddlers. He loved western music.
As a young man, he did ranch work in the Yakima area for many years. In 1962 Harold changed careers and went to work at Schakke Pack. This was when he moved his family to Ellensburg.
Harold was in the Army for two years during the Second World War while in the Army he met and married Cecilia M. Schloss. His sister Hazel, had played matchmaker and set him up on a date with Cecilia. They were married in 1950 in Yakima, WA. Together they had 3 children.
He is survived by his two daughters, Julie and husband Pat Thayer, of Ellensburg and Susan Lange also of Ellensburg. Grandchildren: Leesa Luck of Los Angeles, CA., Scott Thayer and wife Kayrn Sterner-Thayer of Ellensburg, and Great Grandson Jeret Scott of Puyallup, WA. He is also survived by his younger brother Kenneth of Burien, WA. as well as many nieces and nephews.
Harold was preceded in death first by his son Harold Lewis Reid Jr and in 2016 by his wife Cecilia. They had been married for 66 years at the time of her death.
In life, Harold told some great stories and loved to joke. He had the power to make people laugh. Many people, who knew him, loved him. We will all miss him dearly.
