Constance Jean Newland, 81, died peacefully at the Cottage in the Meadow on January 6, 2018. Connie was born the daughter of Jack and Vernice (Fahnestock) Lambert on February 17, 1936 in Rock Springs, Wyoming. As a small child her family moved to the Yakima Valley, settling in Selah. She attended Selah High School and graduated in 1954. She then attended Yakima Valley College where she met her husband, Gail E. Newland. They were married on September 4, 1955, and would have celebrated 63 years of marriage this year. They brought four sons into their family, Dale, Gene, Glen, and Michael.
Connie’s primary joy in life was being a housewife and mother to her four boys. She took care of her large home and yard on 10 acres. She loved her rose garden which she could admire from her kitchen window.  For many years the family raised cattle.  She worked approximately 27 years for Snokist on the canning line and retired as a supervisor. Her explanation for the seasonal work was to spend all of the money on Christmas for the kids. Connie was a very talented person, singing and dancing were some of her passions. In her later life, Connie enjoyed a good word search or jigsaw puzzle of any kind. She especially enjoyed her family close by which allowed for early morning coffee gatherings with her family. Connie loved to travel with friends and family, Maui being her favorite destination. Connie found it easy to make friends during her travels with Gail. Together, they would often take day trips offered through the Senior Center. She had a love for life and a very contagious laugh that often drew a crowd to join in her fun.  She kissed everyone hello and goodbye. When kissing her family goodbye, she would always say “Mmmm-I love you”. We love you too Mom. Connie was a beautiful wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Connie is survived by her loving husband Gail, her four sons, Dale (Tawna), Gene (Julia), Glen (Tammy), and Michael (Gayla), her seven grandchildren, Justin, Jason, Jennifer (Schultz), Tyler, Eric, Bryce, Breydon and five great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Glenn (Delene) Lambert, Jack (Kathy) Lambert and dear friends Larry and Rita Lizotte. She is preceded in death by her parents.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
