Joseph Jordi “George” Pellicer was a good man. He passed away peacefully at home on December 30, 2017 surrounded by family after a long and productive life.

George was born August 7, 1927 in San Francisco to Joseph and Eulalia Pellicer who had emigrated from Spain. He survived both tuberculosis and polio in childhood then went on to medical school at Loyola in Chicago. After graduation he married his sweetheart, Donna May Huun. After his medical training, he practiced medicine in Wisconsin for a number of years.
In 1965, George and Donna moved with their growing family to Morocco for 2 years of service in the recently formed Peace Corps. Upon returning to the United States, they ultimately settled on a small ranch in Cowiche where they raised their 9 children, along with a variety of animals.
George practiced family medicine in Yakima for over 30 years, during which he delivered countless babies.  After leaving private practice, he worked for the Yakima Valley Farm Workers clinic until finally retiring in his late 70s.
George is survived by his children Joseph (Kelvie), Mary (Jim), David (Elisabet), Teresa, John, Tom (Keri), Cate (Marc), Paul (Victoria), and Dan (Karin), 13 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren (number 10 is coming soon). He will be remembered for his compassion, patience, generosity, and tireless work ethic. His family is grateful for all he has given them. He will be greatly missed.
A Memorial Service will be held on January 20, 2017 at 1:00PM at the Highland Community Church in Cowiche. Food (bringing something to share is welcome but not necessary), fellowship and a time for sharing will follow the service. All are welcome.
