Rick Dennis Heilman, 62, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully in his sleep in the early hours of November 22nd, 2017. His parents, Phil C. and Marlene Heilman, welcomed him with open arms on August 28th, 1955; born the 3rd of 6 children, he was a standout with his red hair!

Rick graduated from A.C. Davis High School in 1973. Soon after graduation, he followed in his father’s footsteps when he was hired at Boise Cascade Lumber Mill, where he worked for 30 years until their closure in August of 2006. While at Boise Cascade he was an avid member and shop steward of the union, W.C.I.W. Local 2739. During that time, he married Kari Denny and on May 31st, 1987 the light of his life, his daughter Jennifer, was born. Although Kari and Rick went separate ways, he was actively involved in his daughter’s life and loved her deeply.

Rick met his soulmate, his best friend and love of his life, Othella Pickett, and after several years together they were married on August 4th, 2005. Rick and Othella were inseparable, “joined at the hip,” as many would say. They had a love that many long for.

Rick loved his family and treasured times spent with them. He loved the mountains and they spent many memorable times camping. We cannot forget the devotion he had for his Seahawks! If there was ever a fan of the blue and green it was Rick ! Go Hawks! Rick was a very strong, easy-going person…always the peacemaker, never the fighter.

Rick leaves behind his loving wife, Othella, daughter, Jennifer (Brian) Paullin, granddaughter, Stella, step-daughter, Brandy (Charlie) Derrick, grandsons, Lincoln and Levi; 4 siblings, Phil G. Heilman, Linda (Milo) Wilson, John Heilman, and Brenda (Kevin) Sauve. Rick is preceded in death by his mother, Marlene Heilman, father, Phil C. Heilman, and youngest brother, Brian Heilman.

At Rick’s request, no service will be held. Instead have a toast to his life! Devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and caring brother.

“Rick – you are in our hearts forever and will truly be missed.”
