Carrol W. Harris, 78, of Bothell, WA died Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Evergreen Hospital in Kirkland surrounded by his loving family.

Carrol was born February 10, 1939 in Spring Hill, Arkansas to Samuel and Verlin Jones Harris.  From humble beginnings, he eventually landed in Washington State after travelling through Michigan, Colorado, and Washington as a seasonal farm laborer, picking apples in Wenatchee and working hop harvests in the Moxee Valley.

Carrol began his career at Boeing in 1962 as an aero-machinist (IAM 751) in the Aerospace/Defense division before moving into management and retiring in 1999.  He helped build the first Lunar Rover Vehicle (LRV) for the Apollo 15 mission, worked on the SRAM and Minuteman missile programs and served as President of the Boeing Archery Club.

Outside of work, Carrol devoted much of his free time to coaching and serving as a board member for the Lake City Youth Baseball and Football Associations.  One of Carrol’s passions was music and playing the guitar.  Self-taught, he enjoyed playing, singing, and sharing music with his family and friends.

Not one to sit idle in retirement, Carrol stayed busy with his hands.  He enjoyed building, gardening, woodworking, and spending time at his cabin near Lake Cle Elum tinkering with his circa 1940s International tractor.  He also spent countless hours watching his grandchildren participate in sporting events and earlier this fall watched his great-grandson play in his first ever football game.

Recently, he began researching his family genealogy and successfully traced a direct ancestor who fought in the American Revolutionary War.  In 2015, he was proudly inducted into the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution (Cascade Centennial Chapter) and was an active member until his passing.

Carrol married Nancy L. Desmarais on November 28, 1959 in Moxee, WA.  They were married 58 years. Together, they had two children: Cindy Harris (Lynnwood, WA,) and Gregg (Krista) Harris (Issaquah, WA).

Carrol was grandfather, better known as “Poppy” to: Bryan (Lore) Ensley of Snohomish, WA, Aimee (James) Raymond of Buda, TX, Sarah Ensley of McQueeney, TX, and Emily, Jeffrey, and Matthew Harris of Issaquah, WA.   He was great-grandfather to Harris, Graysen and Theodore Ensley, and Brantley Raymond.
He is also survived by his siblings: Vernice Yancey of West Plains, MO, Rose Wiles of Melbourne, AR, Arnold Harris of Violet Hill, AR, Jeanette Hallman of Moxee, WA, and Bobby Harris of Mt Home, AR.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lena Taylor.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Bothell United Methodist Church, 18515 92nd Ave. NE, Bothell, WA. 98011.  425-486-7132.
