Enid Gage returned to her heavenly home October 14, 2017.  Her devotion to her family, friends and community as well as her firm belief in God supported her in final days and gave her peace.
Enid was born on October 9, 1936 in Tisdale, Saskatchewan Canada to Reverend Frederick Victor Childerson Ward and Kate Irene Ward. In the late 40’s and after WWII the family immigrated to Idaho, where her father Frederick, was a Minister in the Episcopal Church while her mother Kate stayed home to raise Enid and her siblings.
On October 15, 1955 Enid married the love of her life Seth Gage in Ellensburg in a ceremony performed by her father. Together they had three children. Enid worked in food services for the Ellensburg School District for many years enjoying all those that she came in touch with.

Mom was gregarious and compassionate about people.  Her compassion for others was demonstrated in her desire to help individuals and families facing the end of life. In early 1983 Enid and Peg Rowbottham started Hospice of Kittitas County; today we know it as Hospice Friends. In 1983 Hospice of Kittitas County helped 12 individuals and their families. Today, nearly 35 years later on average Hospice Friend’s helps 800 individuals and families each year.

In 2010 Enid and Peg received the Washington State Jefferson Award for their public and volunteer service, given by the Seattle City club.
For those that met Enid; know that in doing so you had a friend for life.  There was always a pot of coffee, some chocolate chip cookies and a game of cribbage for anyone that stopped by.

Enid is survived by her loving husband and best friend of 62 years, Seth, and their 3 children, Thomas, William, Sandra, and their families: Thomas and his wife Colleen, their children Kathleen (Nick) and John; William (Katie) and their son Connor; Sandra and her children Jake and Jordyn. As well as her sister Joyce. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother William and sister Audrey.

Our family would like to thank Prestige Post -Acute & Rehab and Hospice Friends for taking such good care of our mom; the kindness and lovely support she received was a testament to personal vision for end of life care. We would also like to thank Brookside Funeral Home for the compassion extended to our family in our time of need.
