Francis “Allen” Sims III passed away at the age of 51 on the morning of September 11th from a heart attack.  Allen was born in Yakima on December 15th, 1965 to and Francis Allen Sims Jr. and Mardeana Ayers.  Close friends and family called him “Alley Oop”.  He attended East Valley High School.

Allen was a man of strong convictions.  He expressed his beliefs openly and made sure the people he cared about knew how important they were to him.  Allen was a hard worker and gifted mechanic. Much of his career was spent working at Superior Asphalt alongside his father and best friend Drew Wall.
Allen would help anyone who needed it and even those who didn’t think they wanted it.  He was meticulous in everything he did from his well-groomed and manicured lawn to the cars and machinery he cleaned and detailed. He made sure things got done right.  He never left a job unfinished or a debt unpaid.  Allen’s broad shoulders carried a lot of burden and heartbreak, but he always kept going.  Even though his body gave out, his spirit, compassion and loyalty never did.
Allen was an outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing.  His fishing exploits took him to Alaska, Drano and Lake Roosevelt.  His booming voice and rumbling laugh were sure signs a story was in the works.
Allen was a loyal, dedicated friend, and a faithful companion. Although they never married, he lovingly cared for and cherished Nicole Govreau, his true love of the past nineteen years. Allen always expressed genuine gratitude to those who helped him or showed him kindness.  He greeted people with a warm hello and never left without a hug and a heartfelt goodbye.  Allen loved animals and had a special softness and compassion especially for dogs. Tasha and Baby were his spoiled, well-loved fur babies, and they miss him dearly.
Allen leaves behind his companion Nicole Govreau, uncle Brian Sims (Bobby), sister Susan Pena, cousins Pat Sims and Genevieve Sims, stepmother Diane Sims and her three children, nieces and nephews and his best friends Drew Wall, Darrell Deweese (Jennifer) and Greg Cyr.  Allen was preceded in death by his mother, father and grandmother Maxine Sims.   Allen will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Brookside Funeral Home (500 W. Prospect Place Moxee, WA) on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Noon with a reception to follow.  Memorial donations can be made to the Yakima Valley Humane Society in Allen’s name.
