Nancy K. (Dunbar) Bridges, 78, of Yakima, passed away peacefully at Cottage in the Meadow on August 31, 2017.
 
Nancy was born July 23, 1939 in Elwood, Nebraska to Dale and Vera (Corder) Dunbar.  Her family relocated to Washington State. She attended Prosser Schools and then graduated from Naches High School.  Nancy met and married Bill Wheeler in 1957 and had three children.
 
Her life career was working in the medical field, hospitals, skilled nursing facilities and assisted living communities.  She had a special place in her heart for troubled teens and young adults while working at the Juvenile Detention Facility.
 
Nancy was a very caring, giving and compassionate person, especially with her children and grandchildren. Her favorite times were spent making big meals and being around her family. She was an avid animal lover.
 
She is survived by two daughters, Lori Sprague and Danette (Derek) Nidiffer of Yakima; foster daughter, Chris Kagele (Brenda) a brother Brad (Ginny) Dunbar, 7 grandchildren, Bradley Wheeler, Ashley Bailey, Michael and Nicole Sprague, Joshua, Jarred, and Jacob Nidiffer; also 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold Bridges, brother Dennis Dunbar and son Daniel Wheeler who passed away August 7, 2017.
 
The family would like to give special thanks to Ginny Dunbar, Linda Benscoter, Julie Wells, Dr. Kakkar, Harborview Medical Center staff ICU2WB, Mountainview Home Health and Cottage in the Meadow.” Thank you so much for all the wonderful care you provided for our mom.”  
 
Graveside Services will be held on Friday, September 15, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Terrace Heights Memorial Park. Those planning to attend should meet at the cemetery.  A reception will follow and the location will be announced at the service. 
 
“Mom, you have always been a beautiful person inside and out. At times, life was troubled. We love you mom and you will be missed.  You will be forever in our hearts.” Love your girls, Lori and Danette.
