Alma Marie Woody, 98, of Yakima, peacefully passed away in her home on Saturday, August 26, 2017. Alma was born in Pipestone, Minnesota to William and Bertha (Hardies) Schuknecht on May 25, 1919.

In 1933, Alma and her entire childhood family including her mother, father, an uncle, and her 8 siblings, traveled from Minnesota to Wenatchee in a 1929 Dodge touring car, pulling a trailer with everything they owned. They stayed in Wenatchee with family while working in the fruit industry. Alma then met Homer Woody from Twin Falls, Idaho and they soon married settling in Yakima, starting their family with their first son, Deryl Woody. Following was their daughter, Marilyn Lunceford, daughter, Dorothy Kennison and youngest son, Homer Woody, Jr.
 
Alma enjoyed sewing, croquet, cross stitch and NASCAR Racing.
 
Alma was fortunate to have lived a long and happy life filled with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and even great-great grandchildren.
Alma was well known for the 35 years she spent working as a Manager of the Yakima Speedway Concessions.
 
Alma is survived by her two sons and two daughters. Alma was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and seven brothers.
 
Viewing will be held on Friday, September 8, 2017 from 4:00 -7:00 p.m. at Brookside Funeral Home, 500 W. Prospect, Moxee. The Funeral Service will be held Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. also at Brookside Funeral Home with Interment to follow at Tahoma Cemetery.
