Bonita Ruth (Purdom) Hale, much loved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend was called to her Heavenly home on Friday, August 25, 2017.
Bonita was born at home in Harrison, Arkansas, to John (Jay) and Lorene Purdom on May 15, 1940.  The family moved to Washington State in 1947 and settled in Yakima.

In 1958, while attending a dance at the Donald Dance Hall, where her dad’s band, Jay Purdom and the Blue Jay Boys, was playing, she met David Hale….and it was magic!  The two were married on January 24, 1959.  A few years later they started their family…..Karl, John and Rhonda.  Mom and Dad were partners in the true sense, spending over 58 years together.

Mom loved her family and her love for them overflowed every day!  She retired from her many years of working in the orchard packing houses to stay home and help raise seven of her grandchildren.  She spent countless hours playing baseball in the backyard, taking them on walks and taking them to the park.  They are all better people because of the love Grandma showed them.

Oh, and a cook extraordinaire!! There wasn’t anything she couldn’t do if she put her mind to it:  cook, can, quilt, embroider, garden and grow the prettiest flowers!! Mom was a jack of all trades!!

Our Mother was a friend to everyone, and because of that, so many people loved her.  She was a true joy to be around!

She is survived by her husband, David Hale; sons Karl and John (Moe) Hale; daughter Rhonda (David) Karnitz; brother Rod (Mary) Purdom; grandchildren Thomas, Jacob, Samantha, Sabrina (Patrick), Valerie, Riann, Mandy and Jessie.  She was preceded in death by her parents Jay and Lorene Purdom and her brother Wayne Purdom.

She will be forever missed, a piece of our hearts will never mend, but we will have wonderful memories that will never be forgotten!!

We would like to thank the Doctors and Nurses at Virginia Mason Memorial ICU for their compassion and care that they gave our Mom the month she was there.  You never wavered in your efforts to help her and our family during our time of need, in fact, most went above and beyond and for that we will be forever grateful.
