Steven "Steve-o" Daniel Bernard, 43, of Yakima, lost his courageous battle against pancreatic cancer with family at his side, Sunday, August 20th, 2017, at Cottage In The Meadow.
Steve was born April 21st, 1974, in Washington D.C. to Lauren David and Ruth Louise (Miller) Bernard.  Steve was three years old when the family moved to Yakima where he attended Yakima Schools.  He was an avid Mariners fan and baseball card collector, and was a member of several baseball card clubs.  He was interested in Dragonball Z, Japanese culture, tattoos, playing poker with friends and drank a Dr. Pepper almost every single day.  He especially enjoyed being with his son, Lathan, his family, and his many amazing friends.
He is survived by his son, Lathan Bernard of Marysville, parents Lauren & Ruth Bernard, sisters Kristi & Jeff Wheeler of Yakima, Julie & Josh Cacka and Michelle Bernard of Boise, ID, and Laura & Chris Kerin of Fort Collins, CO; nieces and nephew J.J., Jayda, Tyra, Zane, Jovi, & Evelyn; and uncle Steven & Donna Bernard of Yakima, and aunts Laura & Greg Smearman of Tucson, AZ, and Jan & Denny Laux of Reisterstown, MD; and numerous cousins.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, an aunt, Sharla Bernard, and an uncle, Tom Miller.
Steve's family would like to thank his incredible doctor at Virginia Mason, Dr. Picozzi, and his team for the selfless care they provided to Steve throughout his journey over the past 16 months.  An additional thank you to the nurses and staff at Cottage In The Meadow for treating him like their own family member in his final days."
A Celebration of Steve’s life will be held later.
