Sean Reilly Kelleher was an incredibly thoughtful and uncommonly generous woman. She was born April 2, 1957 in Shawano, Wisconsin to John and Eleanor Reilly. As she grew up, it was clear that she had an unstoppable determination that drove her to be her best. Honor student? Check. Cheerleader? Check. Pharmacy school? Check. Marry the wide receiver on Notre Dame’s football team? Check. Whiskey Dick Triathlon? Check. Mother to four children? Check.
She excelled at school and was a wonderful daughter and sister. She enjoyed the summer months the most and loved to go water skiing, swimming and boating with friends. She went to college at St. Mary’s in South Bend, Indiana where she met the love of her life at Notre Dame. She was at a party with friends and saw Dan playing with a baby which was different than every other guy at the party. She zeroed in on him. She always knew what she wanted and made it happen. This would be a repeated pattern in her life.
She completed her master’s degree in Pharmacy and was an extremely successful pharmacist her whole life. She saved many people through her work as a pharmacist. After she married Dan, they moved to Ellensburg and started a family. Reilly, Meaghe, Casey and Kilauren were the luckiest kids in the world to be born to such an amazing, caring, fierce mother who would do anything for them and demonstrated that devotion time and time again. She worked so hard for her family. She was the most generous, kind and self-less person one could ever meet. Anyone who was lucky enough to cross her path was better for it. She always tried her hardest at everything and was a fighter with an iron will that was instilled into her children. Everything she did, she gave of herself completely. If you were in need, Sean would be there for you, whether you were a close friend, or a stranger who just needed someone to talk to. Sean was always happy when she could do something kind for someone else. Many of her children’s friends considered her their second mom because of her willingness to listen and her desire to spend time with them, whether it was hosting team dinners, or camp-outs with the ‘Brownie Book Peeps.’ She enjoyed being outside; that meant cross-country skiing in the dead of winter, spending hours sunbathing in the pool on the hottest days of summer, and everything in between.
More than anything, she loved spending time with her family. She spoiled them with family vacations: Disney World, California, and Hawaii (just to name a few). When she went on a 17-mile bike ride, you can bet her kids were being pulled along in the wagon behind her.
Sean Reilly Kelleher went to heaven on August 10, 2017. She was surrounded by her husband and all her children who loved her dearly. She leaves behind a brokenhearted family who will never forget her. She is survived by her husband Dan, her son Reilly (Amanda), daughters Meaghe (Zach), Casey and Kilauren and her cat Kitten. She is also survived by her pride and joy, her granddaughter, Hazel Maggie (1-year-old). In remembrance of her, we ask that you hug the moms in your life.
Sean Kelleher was laid to rest August 14, 2017 at Holy Cross Cemetery, Ellensburg.
