Lawrence “Larry” Edward Ratliff passed away on August 2nd, 2017.  He was born on July 11, 1930, in Royston, TX.  Larry was the first of four children.  Because of the great dust bowl of the 1930’s the Ratliff family moved to California in 1936 and settled in the Fresno area until 1942, at which time they moved to Taft, California to work at the air base during World War II.  Larry graduated from Taft Union High School in 1948 and went to work for Standard Oil Company (Chevron), in the purchasing department.  He left in 1973 and returned in 1981 where he stayed until he retired in 1993.   During his time with Chevron he traveled extensively.  He really enjoyed his work. During the eight years he was gone from Chevron, he moved to Paradise, California where he worked as a purchasing agent for a small manufacturing company.
While in Paradise, California, he met Wanda Breeding and they were married on Valentine’s Day in 1981.  He was also active in the local Elk’s Lodge, where he became an Exalted Ruler of the lodge from 1979-1980.  After he retired, they moved to Yakima to be close to Wanda’s daughter.  Larry and Wanda are members of the Tree of Life Lutheran Church, in Terrace Heights.
Larry is survived by his wife, Wanda, his sons, Larry (Thana) and Danny (Jody), and his daughter, Gail (Jim).  He is also survived by his step children, Kris (Dennis) Betker, Curtis Breeding, Robert (Jeanette) Breeding, and his sister, Juanita Perry, and his brother, John Ratliff, and well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
