Danny “Dan” Olen Wallace, 70, of Yakima, died Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Virginia Mason Memorial Hospital with his family by his side.
Dan was born June 23, 1947 in Yakima, WA to Elmer Adren and Ruth Alice (Beatty) Wallace.  Dan was educated in the Yakima schools and graduated from Davis High School in 1966. He then enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard serving for four years and was Honorably Discharged in 1970.  On August 29, 1970, he married Patricia Lou Haas in Selah.   
Dan worked a short time for Culligan Water Systems and Boise Cascade before starting his career in the fruit industry.  He worked for Atlas Pacific and then went on to Del Monte Fruit Co. where he was the machine mechanic maintaining pear peeler machines.  After over 20 years he was excited to retire in 2009.  He spoke often about the joy of retirement and spending slower days with his adored rescue dog, Tulley.
Dan enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and ATV riding. He loved his family and bragging about his two year old grandsons to his many friends. He especially loved sharing stories and laughter with his good friends at the local American Legion.   
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Patti Wallace and daughter, Lisa Wallace her husband Greg Huefner of Yakima; twin grandsons, Zachary and Drex Huefner; nephews, Nathan Jeffery Wallace (Debbie) of Yakima; Ivan Haas (Andrea) and great niece Violet of Bothell; father-in-law Lou Haas of Yakima; brother and sister-in-law Ted and Priscilla Haas of Yakima; aunt and uncle Cliff and Sharon Beatty of Gig Harbor and numerous other aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Charles Wallace and his beloved mother-in-law Pat Haas.
A Celebration of Dan’s life will be Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Brookside Funeral Home, 500 W. Prospect, Moxee.  A reception will follow the services in the Brookside gardens. Memorials may be made to the American Legion, c/o Brookside Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1267, Moxee, WA 98936.
