Lyle Edwin Gardinier, 59, passed away suddenly of natural causes on July 11, at his new home in Ellensburg.  He was born December 22, 1957 in Ellensburg, WA to Eldon (Pete) Peterson and Avadene Tavis-Peterson.  Lyle spent his first 5 years as a U.S. Air Force “brat” living in Montana.  He, his mother and sister returned to Ellensburg after his father’s untimely death.

Most of Lyle’s life was spent in Kittitas Valley and on the farm of Bob Gardinier, whom his mother married in 1966 and who adopted Lyle and his sister Pam a year later.  Lyle experienced a typical farm life, working with his dad, hunting and fishing, joining 4-H and being a victim of Bob’s many practical jokes.
Graduating from Ellensburg High School in 1976, Lyle attended CWU, later graduating from the University of Montana.  After he and Rhonda Ensign married in 1981, they moved to Spokane where he worked as a supervisor for Air Pollution Control in Spokane County.  Lyle’s work took him to Ferry County and Grant County in government related jobs.
Recently Lyle returned to Ellesnburg where he resided at the time of his death.
Lyle was preceded in death by his father Bob Gardinier.
Lyle is survived by his mother Avadene Gardinier, Rhonda, his former wife of 28 years and four children; Martin David, Carrie Dawn, Robert Daniel and Mackenzie Ann, his sister Pamela (Steve Haberman), brother Steve as well as four nieces and nephews and his recent companion Laura Pattie of Seattle.
The family would like to thank friends for their concern and help.
Funeral arrangements are pending and any contributions may be made to a charity of your choice in Lyle’s name.
