Dorothy M. Penuel Hilsabeck died on May 26, 2017 in her home surrounded by her loving family. Dorothy was born on February 26, 1944, the daughter of Clarence and Emmer (Stacey) Penuel in Scipio, Oklahoma. The family moved to Yakima, Washington when Dorothy was only a year old. She is third child of eight children. She attended school in Adams Elementary School, Washington Junior High, and Davis High School. Dorothy married Ron Hilsabeck and they had three children, Telora, Troy, and Michael. She then married Jim Mason and had one son, Dominic. 
Dorothy was a very religious person, reading her Bible every day. She enjoyed reading and writing, and would so do daily. She was a very giving person, and would give even when she didn’t have it to give. 
She is survived by her husband, Jim “Jake” Mason Nelson, her four children: Telora Walker, Dominic (Kelsey) Mason, Michael Hilsabeck, and Troy Hilsabeck. She is also survived by six siblings: Dorselene (Kenny) Watson, Alma Gayken, Carl (Lori) Penuel, Ray (Beverly) Penuel, A. Fay Merritt, and Jerry Dean (Janice) Penuel Sr. Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, one sister, A. Jean Kuhlmann, and a step brother, Gerald Hoffman. 
The family would like to thank everyone that help care for Dorothy, Heartlinks Hospice, and especially her daughter Telora. 
As a request by the family a Funeral Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the family to help with funeral expenses in care of Alma Gayken (1403 E. Adams St., Yakima, WA 98901).
