Raquel Escobar of Los Angeles, California passed away April 19, 2017 at Kaiser Permanente Hospital. She was born in 1949 in Yakima Washington, to Francisco and Concha (Soto) Martinez. She attended and graduated from Toppenish High School and later California State University Los Angeles. She also worked for many years at UCLA as an administrative assistant in the language department. Raquel later owned her own business showcasing her amazing creative talents making beautiful, handcrafted jewelry. She was a supporter of women in small business and the local community. Art and design were Raquel's passion and her positive spirit and energy will live on through her art and the memories of family and loved ones.

Faith and spirituality were always paramount to Raquel and she loved nothing more than spending quality time visiting with her family in Washington, and Colorado. She was often looked to as a source of positive support to many in tough times and was always willing to help a friend in need. 

Your family, the relatives, and your ancestors wish you a safe journey to God's light and loving arms. May you be well received by those that preceded you.
Survivors include, siblings: Lupe Martinez of Los Angeles, Lorenzo Martinez of Wapato, Helen Moreno of Seattle, Arturo Rodriguez of Pueblo and numerous loving nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Francisco Martinez, mother, Concha Martinez, sister, Sally Martinez and brothers: Ernesto and Frank (Joe) Martinez.
 
Visitation will be held at Brookside Funeral Home (500 W. Prospect Moxee, WA) on Wednesday May 3, 2017 from 2-8pm with a Rosary starting at 6:30pm. Mass of Christian Burial has been arranged for Thursday, May 4, 2017 at 11:00am at St. Aloysius Catholic Church with a procession to Zillah Cemetery following.
