John Adams, 85, of Yakima, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends in the early morning on Monday, April 3, 2017 at Cottage in the Meadow. John was born March 4, 1932 in Holcombe, Wisconsin to Clarence Oliver and Bessie (Zerbach) Adams.
John enlisted in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 until August 1955. He married his loving wife of 62 years, JoAnn Dorn on September 18,1954. After his discharge, John worked for the Boeing Company in Renton, WA. He and his family moved to the Yakima Valley in 1964 where he worked as a master carpenter for 40+ years. John enjoyed hunting, fishing and telling stories.
John is survived by his wife, JoAnn Adams of Yakima; son Byron Adams of Roatan, Honduras, Lynn Mitzel and Betsy (Scott) Owens, all of Yakima; 7 grandchildren, Hanna, Elmer, Holly, Samantha, Karli, Kyle and Jamison; 8 great-grandchildren; a sister, Hazel Murray of Weatherford, Texas; and his dachshund Max. He was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter, Rachel Adams and 12 brothers and sisters.
In loving memory of John Adams and the amazing life he lived, there will be a Celebration of Life Service, Friday, April 21, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, 91 Wernex Loop Road, Selah. Join our family, as we gather to honor a great man who filled our lives with such joy and love. He was not only a Master Carpenter of 40+ years, he was the world’s best father and everyone’s best friend. You are all invited to celebrate with us at the luncheon to follow the service to share favorite stories and memories.
